COVID-19 Details

Shantytown hopes to see you for a visit soon!  To do it safely during the Covid-19 situation, there are some specific requirements of us and our visitors.

Contact tracing is mandatory. Please register your visit via the paper-based diary at reception, or by using the NZ COVID Tracer app.

Please wear a face covering if you are aged 12 years or over when entering Shantytown, on the train, at the gold clam and until you are seated in the cafe.

Under ‘Red’ in New Zealand’s ‘Covid-19 Protection Framework’, our capacity limits are based on 100 visitors at any time and  a 1 metre distancing between bubbles.  However, from December 9th 2021 all visitors are also required to be fully vaccinated from Covid-19.

We will check vaccination statuses at the main entrance using the My Vaccine Pass system.  Children under 12 will be exempt from these checks at this stage.

We continue to have hand sanitiser available and encourage its use.  If you at all feel under the weather, please postpone your visit.
